If you find sleeping in bed with your partner cramped enough, imagine adding five big dogs.

Tracy Fosterling, 32, and her partner Tyler, 31, own five dogs: Two Great Pyrenees – aka literal mountain dogs – a Labrador, a Great Pyrenees/Labrador cross and a pint-sized Dachshund/Chihuahua cross.

And they all sleep in their bed.

‘It just kind of happened,’ the marketing manager from Jacksonville, Florida, US, said.

Our first few dogs always slept on the bed so when we began adding more, we didn’t feel right not letting them all.

‘We have large breed dogs, the biggest one being 120lbs, but surprisingly it’s not that cramped.

Tracey did say that keeping the bed clean takes some effort, though.

‘The bed and sheets are cleaned every day pretty much so the hair and stuff don’t become an issue,’ she says.

‘Their lives are short, so why not give them some extra space?’

A recent clip of their sleeping set up went viral, with nearly 5 million views shows – and unsurprisingly, the internet had a lot to say.

One critic commented: ‘Husband looks like he doesn’t love it,’ while another said that Tyler ‘looks like he wants to walk in front of a train.’ Harsh.

But Tracy insists that Tyler is totally on board and the couple said that the arrangement doesn’t affect their relationship at all.

‘It bothers other people more than ourselves,’ Tracy said.

‘We love that [the dogs are] happy and are close to us, which is where they want to be.’

And the couple insist it doesn’t impact their sex life either.

‘We have doors for a reason and we still prioritise our marriage,’ she said.

‘We do get a lot of negative reactions from people who just don’t understand it. But we also get a lot of people who support us.

‘It’s more bad than good, but we don’t mind. If it’s not your life, then why leave negative comments?

‘Let people do what makes them happy.’
