Rites of Sacrifice

The Prime Minister's Office and the departments under it held a Rites of Sacrifice in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha. The ceremony was conducted on 19th June morning, by the Public Service Commission with the cooperation of the Department of Energy at the Prime Minister's Office.

 

Present was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yusof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence. The ceremony was enlivened with a special talk titled 'Erti Sebuah Pengorbanan dalam Islam' or the meaning of sacrifice in Islam.

 

This year, four buffaloes were sacrificed. 48 selected recipients among the staff of the Prime Minister's Office and the departments under it and One Hundred and Twenty Four poor and destitute recipients under the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, MUIB received the sacrificial meats. It was distributed by the Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence and Dato Seri Paduka Awang Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos as well as Awang Haji Mohamad Azmi bin Haji Mohd Hanifah, Deputy Ministers at the Prime Minister's Office.
