Immigration Act Offences

5 Indonesian men were charged in Court for offences under the Immigration Act, Chapter 17. The prosecution was the result of the enforcement operation by the Department of Immigration and National Registration, Kuala Belait Branch, carried out under Operasi Kabat.


 

Samsodin, aged 41, Dedi Stiawan, 26, and Andi Purwanto, 29 years old were sentenced to 5 months imprisonment from 5th November and 3 whippings for overstaying after their immigration passes had expired.

 

Meanwhile, 51-year-old Ahmad Saekhoni was sentenced to 5 months imprisonment for overstaying after his immigration pass had expired. No whipping was imposed in accordance to the provision of Section 258, Criminal Procedure Code, Chapter 7. The sentence started on 5th November. Meanwhile, Samroni, 51, settled a fine of $3,500 dollars for overstaying in the country after his immigration pass had expired.
