Elderly Woman Killed In Kepayan Accident

KOTA KINABALU

 

An elderly woman was killed in a road accident while crossing the Lintas Road, in front of RMT Building, in Kepayan here yesterday.

 

Augusta Lojikim, 76, from Kampung Kepayan, Jalan Botung, here succumbed to her injuries when she was knocked by a Perodua Viva car around 6am.

 

It is believed that the victim was crossing the road when she was knocked by the Perodua Viva car, driven by a 24-year-old man who was on his way to Manggatal from Kepayan.

 

City police chief ACP M. Chandra said the victim’s body had been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a post-mortem.

 

Police detained the driver, who escaped injury, to assist police in their  investigation, he said.

 

The case is currently being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
