A foreign national was apprehended and brought to the Law Enforcement Section for further investigation for allegedly committing an offence under the Immigration Act, Chapter 17 for working using the Visit Pass.

 

The offence was recorded during the 'Operasi Kabat' carried out by the Immigration and National Registration Department at several locations in Mukim Gadong.

 

Meanwhile, following the recent 'Operasi Kabat' at Mukim Kota Batu, four cases under the Immigration Act, Chapter 17 were brought to court. Imam Suwardini, an Indonesian was fined $9,000 or 3 months imprisonment in default. He pleaded guilty for providing employment to immigration offenders. Hanifudin, an Indonesian was sentenced to five months imprisonment and 3 strokes of whipping and pleaded guilty for overstaying in the country after his immigration pass expired.

 

Meanwhile, two Indonesian men, Sarjono and Nur Rohman, were sentenced to 4 months imprisonment and 3 strokes of whipping. Both of the defendants pleaded guilty for overstaying in the country after their immigration passes expired. The sentence takes effect from the first day they were remanded, which is on the 28th of November 2024.
