Number of Roads Closed Around BSB for Maulud Procession

In conjunction with the mass assembly and procession to mark the birthday anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) which takes place at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien in the capital on December 12, the Royal Brunei Police, Force (RBPF) has informed the public that a number of streets will be closed around Bandar Seri Begawan starting at 6.30 am until the procession is finished.

 

The main roads that will be closed ahead of the procession are the traffic light areas at Jalan Tutong near Badi'ah Complex, the Magistrate's Court, at Jalan Haji Basir (in front of the fire station), near the Jubilee Park, Jalan Kumbang Pasang near Raja Isteri Girls High School (STPRI) leading to St George's School and at Jalan Bendahara.

 

Other roads affected include traffic light areas around Jalan Jawatan Dalam, Jalan Kebangsaan, Jalan Sekolah/Jalan Tasek/Jalan TV Besar, Jalan Stoney, Jalan Kianggeh (opposite Jubilee Hotel), Jalan Elizabeth 2/Jalan Kianggeh (near the Chinese Temple) and at Jalan Residency/Jalan McArthur.
Several roads will be closed during the event and they are along Jalan McArthur/Jalan Sultan/ traffic light area along Jalan Roberts, Jalan Elizabeth 2, Jalan Sumbiling, Jalan Stoney, Jalan Sultan, Jalan Pemancha and Jalan Residency to Kota Batu (near the junction to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade building).

 

Among the car parks that need to be vacated a day earlier before the procession are along Jalan Tasek/Jalan Kianggeh/Jalan McArthur and Jalan Sultan as well as Jalan Stoney/Jalan Haji Basir and Jalan Sekolah. In relation to this matter, the police will take action to move any vehicles found parked at the places mentioned earlier, namely on the night of December 11.

 

Buses carrying participants from the route of Jalan Kebangsaan should drop them at Jalan Bendahara, Jalan Stoney (near the Terrace Hotel) Jalan Padang and Jalan Kumbang Pasang. Similarly, buses carrying participants coming from Jalan Tutong/Jalan Gadong, should drop participants at Jalan Stoney, Jalan Bendahara. All buses carrying participants will be placed at the car park at Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kiarong.

 

People are also advised to use alternative roads such as the Hassanal Bolkiah Highway, Jalan Tutong heading towards old Jalan Muara, Jalan Kumbang Pasang towards Jalan Menteri Besar/ Galan Sungai Akar and Jalan Gadong.

 

Meanwhile in the Belait District, the Traffic Control and Investigation Department under the RBPF is responsible for controlling the traffic flow in the vicinity of the main streets in Kuala Belait to ensure that the traffic in the area is not congested.

 

The procession will start from Padang Bandaran, Kuala Belait and roads to be passed by the participants of the march are Jalan Maulana, Jalan Carey, Jalan Panglima, Jalan Bunga Raya, Jalan Dato Shahbandar and Jalan Sultan.

 

Screening in the streets will commence at 6.30am and the full closure for the procession will be effective from 7.30am. During the road closure, the public who wishes to go to Padang Bandaran may use alternative routes such as Jalan Singa Menteri, Jalan Sungai, Jalan Kampong Melayu Asli and Jalan Dato Shahbandar.

 

No vehicle will be allowed to be parked on the parade route for the safety of the participants and it will be enforced starting at 6am on December 12 until completion of the event.

 

Meanwhile in the Tutong District, roads closed during the procession which starts at 7am include the T-junction at Penyurat Haji Abu Bakar filling station, the entry junction to Chop Tang Huat shop, entry junction to Tutong Central Mall, T-junction near the Electrical Services Department and junction in front of Tutong District Office.

 

And in the Temburong District, roads that will be under control and supervision starting from 6.30am till the procession is completed, are part ofJalan Utama Labu, the road towards and exiting Pekan Bandar and entrance from the district office to the Sultan Hassan Secondary School.
