Semporna Residents Now Clear On Party, Development Issues

 December 12th, 2016  |  08:29 AM  |   1380 views

SEMPORNA

Semporna residents and voters are becoming increasingly aware and are slowly accepting the explanation given by Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) on current issues, including the position of former Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, who is no longer with Umno.

Semporna Umno division acting chief Datuk Seri Nasir Tun Sakaran said this was based on the encouraging feedback from Umno’s Jelajah Rakyat Tour Programme.

“Judging from the response and acceptance of our explanation, we can conclude that there is no more confusion on the issue involving Shafie.

“This was because some people thought Shafie was victimised by Umno when in reality, he left the party on his own accord,” he told reporters after a Jelajah Rakyat programme in Kabogan here yesterday.

He said the Semporna Umno should be actively going about explaining on current issues related to the party and development plans so that the public would not be confused by inaccurate news which do not reflect well on the government.

Meanwhile, Nasir said the tour programme would continue to explain on political issues in Semporna and Umno/BN contributions to the people of Semporna since Umno’s presence in Sabah over 25 years ago.

While admitting that there were still much to be done, such as resolving clean water supply problems and providing public housing assistance, Nasir said Semporna Umno and BN would bring up these matters to the party leadership and government.

“For example, the clean water supply problem in this district has improved as there is no more water rationing and with the completion of a water treatment  plant in Kelumpang in a year’s time, clean water will be supplied to Semporna district, including Bum-Bum Island,” he said.
