The European Union, E.U - Brunei Darussalam Partnership Facility acknowledge the pressing need to address common challenges, such as ethical use of Artificial Intelligence, AI, data privacy, cybersecurity, and digital inclusion. In recognising the potential of these technologies to drive innovation, enhance public services and address global challenges, both partners organised a Policy Outreach and Exchange Seminar on AI. It was held at a hotel in Kiulap, 24th June afternoon.

The keynote address by the Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications outlined the strategic importance of AI for the country. Awang Haji Hairul Mohd Daud bin Haji Abdul Karim emphasised the country sees AI not only as an enabler but as a new catalyst for innovation and development- supporting more efficient public services, improving access to healthcare and education, driving innovation and advancing economic resilience. The seminar aims to foster dialogue and collaboration between the EU and Brunei Darussalam on leveraging AI for sustainable development while addressing associated risks and challenges.
