The Malaysian Civil Defence Forces (APM) owns six Sealegs Amphibious boats worth RM3.6 million to rescue disaster victims.
APM deputy director-general (Management) Sukiman Ahmad said the boats were stationed in Kelantan (two), Sabah (one), Sarawak (one) and two at the APM headquarters to be used in other states if required.
He said this after handing over training completion certificates on handling and maintenance of boats at Tambatan Diraja here yesterday. He said APM was in the process of seeking an additional 23 boats for use next year.
“We will station at least two boats in each state to conduct rescues specifically during floods on receiving the additional boats.” — Bernama
