Everyone is invited to Bandarku Ceria on 26 March 2017 for the OzSports Festival! The Australian High Commission is excited to be working with Sports Camps Australia and a huge range of local partners to bring a morning sport-filled activities to Bandar Seri Begawan!

The OzSports Festival will see Australian sports coaches, local sporting associations and businesses coming together to run fun activities for kids on the green grass of the Taman SOAS.  Participating organisations and businesses will also be hosting booths so that families can sign up for next season, or learn about how Brunei businesses aresupporting healthy living!

At an event launch at the Royal Brunei Recreation Club on Tuesday 14 March, the Australian High Commissioner, H.E. Nicola Rosenblum said “There is nothing more Australian than being outdoors and enjoying a sunny morning playing sports with family and friends.  So to us, Aussie sports and Bandarku Ceria were such a natural fit! We’re pleased to be bringing together a wide range of sports – from cricket to netball to rugby – to the centre of Bandar Seri Begawan these coming school holidays.  We hope that families will come down, have some fun and find a sport that their children want to keep playing in the future.”

The OzSports Festival event is open to the public and free of charge. Children between the ages of 5-12 are encouraged to register soon to ensure they get an event tshirt!

The OzSportsFestival will kick off a week of OzSports-filled fun, with Sports Camps Australia working with a range of local partners to host soccer, basketball, and swimming workshops throughout the week. They will also be bringing their multisport program – PhizzKidz! – to Brunei for the first time.

Speaking from Australia on the occasion of the OzSports Festival launch, Mr Mark Wilton, Chief Executive Officer of Sports Camps Australia said “Sports Camps Australia (SCA) was established with the view to provide opportunities for children across all ages and ability within a fun environment. Our campsallow children to enhance their current skill level, and try different sports to see which one suits thembest.  SCA has always had a passion for developing sport in South East Asia, from grass roots development to elite level athletes, and we are excited to be bringing our camps to Brunei. We feel that there is a lot of passion, determination and a desire to be good at sports here, and we hope that all children are given the opportunity to come and be trained by some of the best coaches.”
