Seri Mulia Sarjana International School (SMSIS) has conducted a series of safety drills to ensure that teachers, students and staff respond to the school's emergency alarm and know the exit routes and assembly points.
The safety drills aim to prepare the school community for emergencies such as a lockdown procedure, fire, bad weather and earthquake, according to a press release.
Preparing for a safety drill involves making sure all teachers and staff know the plan and that students are reassured, not frightened by the process.
The class teachers instruct the students on emergency procedures so that they can respond to an emergency without confusion or panic. They also check attendance so that all their students are accounted for after a safety drill.
The students were also informed that some emergencies such as earthquakes may not happen in Brunei Darussalam but these drills would teach them what to do when an actual incident occurs when some of them go back to their home countries.
