BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Babies born yesterday, Sunday the 7th of May, are fortunate indeed. Their births were not only welcomed with joy by family members but also came as the nation celebrated the National Family Day. Sixteen babies - 13 baby boys and 4 baby girls - were born throughout the country. This afternoon, the newborn babies were celebrated in a Doa Kesyukuran and Souvenir Presentation Ceremony, themed, "My Beloved Child."

At the Suri Seri Begawan Hospital in Kuala Belait, souvenirs marking the birth of the National Family Day babies were presented by Datin Paduka Hajah Jahrah binti Haji Muhamad, the wife of the Minister of Home Affairs. The births of two baby boys were recorded at the hospital yesterday, at 5.23 a.m. and 8.36 a.m. The presentation of "My Beloved Child" birthday gifts which was previously known as "My Child, My Hope" was the fifth such presentation held in conjunction with the National Family Day Celebration with the first presentation held in 2013.

Meanwhile, at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital, the gifts were presented by Datin Sarimah binti Haji Umar, the wife of the Minister of Health. This hospital recorded the births of 13 babies - 9 baby boys and 4 baby girls. This year's first national family day baby was born at the hospital at 2.47 in the morning to Awang Mohamad Izzuddin bin Mohamad Yussof and Dayang Morhamizah binti Haji Latif. Meanwhile, Jerudong Park Medical Centre, JPMC, recorded the birth of one baby. It is hoped that the Presentation of Gifts to the newborn could encourage all members of the community to treasure and love children right from time they are born as a gift from Allah the Almighty that is very meaningful in a family life.
