The Brunei Darussalam Shari'ah Courts have announced that by consent of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Yang Berhormat Yang Di-Pertua of the Islamic Religious Council informs the public, that the 1st of Sya'aban 1438 Hijrah fell on Friday, the 28th of April 2017.

Therefore, Nisfu Syaaban for the year 1438 Hijrah falls on Thursday, 11th of May 2017. Subsequently, the sighting of the moon of Ramadhan 1438 Hijrah will be held on the 29th of Syaaban 1438 Hijrah, corresponding to the 26th of May 2017 at the DST Tower of the DST Main Office Building at the Tungku Link Highway and Bukit Agok, Jerudong in the Brunei Muara District. Bukit Ambog in the Tutong District and Bukit Lumut in the Belait District.
