Hari Raya Aidil Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice is one of the two important celebrations in Islam. It takes place as millions of Muslims from all over the world perform the Haj rituals in the Holy City of Makkah Al-Mukarramah. It is in conjunction with one of the most important Haj rituals, the stoning of the Jamrat or Devil Stones which signifies the Faith and Willingness of Prophet Ibrahim alaihi-salam to sacrifice his son Prophet Ismail alahi-salam in the name of Allah the Almighty.
His Majesty then presented the sacrificial meat to 50 special male recipients and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri presented the sacrificial meat to fifty special women recipients. The Korban Sunnat or commendable sacrifice performed every year by His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri and the Royal Family reflects Their Majesties generosity to the less fortunate people. The act of sacrifice has many blessings and rewards including teaching Muslims to be generous in contributing part of their wealth to others and to be grateful for Allah's blessings and bounties.
The doa selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti. Among the people attending the Hari Raya Aidil Adha celebration were converts, volunteer dai'e or Muslim preachers, Mosque youth and muslimah, students of institutes of higher learning and religious school students.
The presence of His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri at the ceremony was tacit evidence of His Majesty's loving and caring personality as the 'Ulul Amri or Leader of the country as well as the spark that lights the spirit of the country's Muslims who have the means to perform the Korban. For the less privileged the presentation of the sacrificial meat brought happiness to them.
