In recognition and appreciation of the students' academic achievements, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), awarded 96 medals, book prizes and excellence awards to the graduates. The event in conjunction with 29th UBD Convocation Ceremony was held yesterday afternoon at the Chancellor Hall of UBD.

The awards were handed over by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doktor Awang Haji Zulkarnain bin Haji Hanafi, the Minister of Health as UBD council members. 5 graduates in various disciplines received silver medal. 79 book prizes were awarded for bachelor and masters students. 7 first class Bachelor degrees received the BLNG Excellence award. Meanwhile, a first class bachelor of Engineering graduate received the 'IET Best Student Award', which was awarded for the first time from the Institution of Engineering and Technology Brunei Darussalam.

Four final year student in Diploma also received the excellence award in recognition to their high performance. Such an event is an incentive to stimulate the students' spirit to continue their efforts in improving their academic performance. Also present were Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Education and Datin Doktor Hajah Anita Binurul Zahrinah binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz, Vice Chancellor of UBD.
