The Allied Health Professions of Brunei Darussalam Order, 2017 which commenced on 1st July 2017 aims to protect the health, safety and well-being of the public. The implementation of the Order will bring Brunei Darussalam in line with the international standards that strive to ensure patient safety and high standard of health care.
The order also to ensure the registered Allied Health Professionals are competent and fit to practise their professions within their scopes of practices. The Order regulates a diverse group of 19 different Allied Health Professions.
The enforcement of the Order is followed by the establishment of a statutory body - the Allied Health Professions Council of Brunei Darussalam (AHPCBD) which governs and regulates the professionalism of all registered Allied Health Professionals in the country. The primary functions of the AHPCBD are to protect public interest through registration and issuance of practising certificates for registered Allied Health Professionals; to set standards for practice, conduct and training; as well as to maintain a register of Allied Health Professionals.
Allied Health Professionals who have yet to attend the briefing and especially those who are currently working in the non-governmental or private sectors in Brunei Darussalam, will be given the opportunity to exchange ideas and share feedback between the relevant participants at the briefing session which will be held on the 30th of September 2017, at 2 in the afternoon at Dewan Al-'Afiah, Ministry of Health, Commonwealth Drive, Bandar Seri Begawan.
