The Indonesian Embassy in Brunei Darussalam has handed over a donation to the Society for the Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei at the SMARTER Autism Edge Centre in Jalan Seri Setia Satu, Kampong Perpindahan Mata-Mata Gadong.
The delegation from the embassy was led by H. E. Nurul Qomar, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Brunei Darussalam. Also present was Pribadi Sutiono, Deputy Chief of Mission at the embassy.
Malai Haji Abdullah bin Malai Haji Othman, President of SMARTER Brunei brought them on a tour of the facilities at the centre.
In an interview, H. E. Nurul Qomar said that the world is now aware that individuals living with autism can still be developed, and with more attention and care they will be able to grow. She added that the donation was to show the embassy's concern for the students at SMARTER Brunei.
The donation handover was also held to Commemorate Indonesia's National Education Day which is held on May 2.
The donation was compiled from a charity sale that was held during the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT) Family Day in Commemorating Asean Community, last March 2016 which was participated by Asean embassies.
