Issue On Products Labelled With Fake Halal Certificate

Any halal certificate or labels which are not 'Brunei Halal' or from the Islamic Religious Council, hence, under the current laws it is an offence and liable to a fine of up to 8-thousand dollars. The Minister of Religious Affairs explained the matter in response to a query raised by Yang Berhormat Haji Mohaimin bin Haji Johari @ Jahari.
Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin said that if there are doubts or complaints from the public or the enforcement, the first step is to remove the goods from the shelves, while samples will be send for test to the laboratory to determine the products contained dubious ingredients. If it is found that the products contained dubious ingredients, they are advised to be recalled. Failure to do so is an offence.
