More than 345 million dollars have been proposed for the budget allocation of the Ministry of Health for the Financial Year 2018/2019. Yang Berhormat Dato Paduka Dr. Haji Mohd Isham bin Jaafar, Minister of Health, while presenting the Ministry's budget allocation, underlined that the main focus of the Ministry's budget will focus on 5 main strategies.

Firstly, increasing the effectiveness of health governance and policy which is hoped to increase the quality of service and support towards the healthcare productivity through the assimilation of innovation in all services and improving professionalism of officers and staff towards providing quality and best services. Yang Berhormat said the assimilation of the Malay Islamic Monarchy, MIB concept in daily tasks will also be stressed upon, in line with and based on Islamic teachings. Secondly, protecting public health by making use of approaches and best practices such as strengthening the implementation of the "Health in Whole Policies" in prevention programmes and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases as well as increasing surveillance and alertness towards disease threats. Thirdly, Basic Healthcare is also being focused upon towards strengthening the holistic service for the community from the aspects of screening, treatment, recovery and prevention of diseases, which also include healthcare for mothers and children. Fourthly, Secondary and Tertiary healthcare to support the efficiency and effectiveness of services in hospitals and medical centres to provide quality service according to international health standards by using medical technology and information methods within a conducive and customer-friendly infrastructure. Lastly, Basis Aid Service which is dedicated to strengthen service for the supply of medicines and medical consumables, country's scientific and clinical laboratory services, and ensuring that medical equipment and infrastructure are always in a good condition, functioning and safe for use. To support these strategies, the Ministry realises the importance of increasing efforts for health promotion and health education at all age groups through suitable approaches, including through mass and social media.
