BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

The Cultural sector has high potential in assisting the country's economic growth by developing the tourism industry. The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports highlighted the matter while presenting the Ministry's proposed budget, which touched on the main duties of his Ministry in the cultural field.

According to Yang Berhormat, investments to attract more tourists to the country can be seen in terms of the maintenance and development of historical heritage sites and museums through organising cultural activities including promoting the heritage trail, the upgrading of the Royal Regalia Building which has been renamed as the Royal Regalia Museum effective from the 1st of December 2017, and the Brunei-Singapore exhibition, which is held until April at the Art Gallery of the Royal Wharf. Yang Berhormat said these investments to attract tourists will also achieve the desired results through the declaration of Bandar Seri Begawan as the ASEAN City of Culture 2017-2018 and the Capital City of Islamic Culture in the Asian region in 2019.
