 March 20th, 2018  |  10:13 AM  |   352 views

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

The rate of mobile service coverage and usage in the country has shown positive developments thanks to continued efforts taken by mobile service providers DST Communications and Progresif Cellular. The Minister of Communications touched on the matter to share insights regarding developments in the ICT sector which is supervised by the Authority for Info-Communication and Technology Industry, AiTi.

Elaborating on the matter, Yang Berhormat said there has been an increase in telecommunications tower infrastructures, where continued efforts have resulted in the provision of mobile service coverage to 341 out of 432 villages, or nearly 80 percent of villages across the country. This includes providing coverage for users along and around the vicinity of the Lumut-Telisai highway. Yang Berhormat said that the Ministry of Communications and AiTi are aware that there is still room for improvement in this area, specifically in a number of villages which still face mobile service coverage issues, adding that cooperation and discussion with the relevant parties will be further intensified to ensure mobile service coverage can be reached for use by residents in these villages.
