The Institute of Policy Studies, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, UBD, yesterday morning held its 4th Annual Islamic Governance Symposium at the Senate Room, Chancellor Hall, UBD. Seven papers were presented by local and foreign speakers.

 

 Themed "The Governance of Conflict", more than 200 participants attended the symposium which focuses on the approaches and strategies for managing, engaging, and resolving conflict from an Islamic Governance perspective. Present was Associate Professor Doctor Ayub Sadiq, Assistant Vice Chancellor of UBD.

 

Awang Haji Muhammad Rozan bin Dato Paduka Haji Muhammad Yunos, Adjunct Professor of UBD's Centre of Life Long Learning in a paper titled "Temporal Fractures in Islamic Governance in Brunei Darussalam, mentioned about the condition of Islamic Governance in Brunei Darussalam along the historical timeline.  The second paper presented by Ms.Sher Banu Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of Malay Studies, National University of Singapore touched on a model of leadership in the Malay World from the perspective of customary norms or adat and Islam. Also present was Yang Berhormat Dayang Khairunnisa binti Awang Haji Ash'ari, Member of the Legislative Council.
