10 categories were competed in the Jawi Writing Competition in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul Celebration for the Belait District. Yesterday morning's competition was held at the Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Religious School in Kuala Belait.

Present was Yang Berhormat Awang Hanapi bin Mohd Siput, Member of the Legislative Council.  The objective of the competition was to further enliven the celebration as well as to scout talents in jawi writing. 182 participants took part in the competition organised by the Belait District's Islamic Studies Department.
