This year's National Family Day celebration will take place on the 6th of May. The culmination of the celebration is the Family Gathering Event: Harmonious Family Cycling Recreation at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien in the capital. In an exclusive with RTB, the Minister of Culture,Youth and Sports said the 11 kilometre Cycling recreation event is organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ministry of Health.

Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin in the interview first thanked His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam for consenting to attend the cycling recreation event on Sunday the 6th of May. He added that the presence of the monarch and other members of the royal family shows how caring and attentive His Majesty is towards the efforts to strengthen the family institution in the country.

Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan informed that this year's National Family Day, HKK also involves other ministries as well as the Brunei Darussalam Cycling Federation. Participation for the event is free and open to all communities in the country. Yang Berhormat said that the event is using a Whole of Nation approach. Last year's National family day theme of My Loving Family, Glorious Country is also used this year and portrays the HKK objective of raising awareness on the importance of the family institution towards shaping a society and country, which has a high integrity which is akin to a house's main pillar. The community must possess loving families, mutually respecting each other, courteous, assists one another as well as attentive to the plight of others. All this can curb the occurrence of social negatives and at the same time establishing a glorious and harmonious nation.
