Department of Schools Presented Donations to Underprivileged Students

The Department of Schools yesterday handed over donations to three students in a ceremony held at the Tungku Primary School.

 

The recipients were siblings Awang Ahmad Nur Idham bin Ahmad Juzlan and Awang Ahmad Nur Danish bin Ahmad Juzlan, who lost their home on February 10 due to fire; and Dayang Siti Nuraliah Izzati from Rimba II Primary School, whose father passed away on March 14. Her father used to work as an education officer at the Ministry of Education at the Raja Isteri Girls High School (STPRI), Cluster 1.

 

The donations were presented to the students to provide assistance in buying school essentials as well as daily necessities.

 

On hand to present the donation was Awang Haji Aziz bin Haji Nayan, Senior Special Duties Officer at the Department of Schools.

 

The donation money was collected from officers and staff of the department as well as schools under Cluster 1.

 

In his speech, Haji Aziz advised the students despite their mishaps, they must not neglect their education.

 

Ahmad Nur Idham who is in Year 4 and Ahmad Nur Danish in Year 2 received B$1,125 each, while Siti Nuraliah who is in Year 6 received B$477. Dayang Siti Norhayati binti Haji Anapi, Siti Nuraliah's mother, was also presented with a donation amounting to B$477.
