​His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam attended the Swearing-in Ceremony for the newly appointed Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, President of the Court of Appeal, Judicial Commissioner of the Court of Appeal and High Court Judge. The Swearing-in Ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman.

Present were His Majesty's son and brother, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.

The Letter of Appointment was read by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Penggawa Laila Bentara Istiadat Diraja Dalam Istana Pengiran Haji Alauddin bin Pengiran Paduka Tuan Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, the Grand Chamberlain.

First to recite the oath to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was Yang Amat Arif Dato Paduka Steven Chong Wan Oon as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, effective from the 30th of June 2018.

This was followed by Justice Michael Peter Burrell as the new President of the Court of Appeal for a term of two years starting the 25th of October 2018.

Next to recite the oath was Yang Arif Michael Victor Lunn, as the new the Judicial Commissioner of the Court of Appeal for a term of two years starting the 25th of October 2018.

Lastly to recite the oath was Yang Arif Pengiran Datin Paduka Hajah Rostaina binti Pengiran Haji Duraman as the High Court Judge starting the 5th of July 2018.

Also in attendance were Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Bakti Di-Raja Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Isa bin Pehin Datu Perdana Manteri Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Ibrahim, the Special Adviser to His Majesty and Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; Yang Berhormat Dato Paduka Haji Hairol Arni bin Haji Abdul Majid, the Attorney General; Justice Conrad Seagrott, the Judicial Commissioner of the Court of Appeal; and Haji Abdullah Soefri bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court.
