Post-Mortem Of The 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games In Buenos Aires, Argentina 2018

​His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympics Council, in a sabda, reminded sports associations in the country to always strive in helping to improve the performance quality of national athletes. Delivering the sabda at a Post-Mortem of the 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina 2018, His Royal Highness also stressed that sports associations need to be more attentive to the needs of national athletes such as exposure championships, as it is vital in enhancing their performance and spirits in showing their best quality in international sports arenas. The meeting was held at the Conference Room of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.

 

 The meeting began with the reading of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat led by Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Awang Haji Emran bin Haji Kunchang.

 

Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, in his address expressed gratitude to His Royal Highness for his attendance at the meeting, which reflects His Royal Highness' continuous concern to develop sports in the country.

 

 Datin Paduka Doctor Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Jalil, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports as Chairperson of the National Athlete's Evaluation and Selection Executive Committee in a briefing touched on the results of Brunei's participation in the games.

 

 Meanwhile, a report on the country's participation at the games, which was presented by Awang Faisal bin Yunus as Chef de Mission, touched on the need for guidance and training under experienced coaches to boost athlete performance and achievements to a much better level.

 

In the sabda, His Royal Highness also expressed hope for athletes participating in such sports to continue their efforts in undergoing training to enhance their future performances. His Royal Highness also touched on the contingent's official attire while training overseas, which according to His Royal Highness, the presentation of the contingent's official attire is a way of completing the athletes' and officers' identity showing that they are the country's valid representatives.

 

At the recent 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina 2018, the country sent three athletes and four officers. At the games, Brunei Darussalam participated in the athletics and swimming events.
