​Two Brunei Darussalam student delegations will have the chance to experience for themselves Japanese culture, economy and technology, while representing the country at the Asian International Children's Film Festival Exchange and Peace Building Exchange in Japan under the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths, JENESYS 2018 programme. JENESYS is a people-to-people exchange programme between Japan and the Asia-Pacific region organised by the Japanese Government. A send-off ceremony for the participants was held yesterday morning at the Embassy of Japan in Kampong Kiulap.

 

His Excellency Motohiko Kato, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the country, in his speech, encouraged the Bruneian participants as the country's young ambassadors with their important mission, to make use of the opportunities and experiences to build strong and peaceful relations with youths from other countries.

 

The country will be represented by 3 students from Sayyidina Husain Secondary School at the Asian International Children's Film Festival Exchange, a three minute short film competition for Children to be held from the 20th until the 28th of this month. The students have made one film which was nominated at the film festival and will attend the award ceremony in Kitami City, Hokkaido, Japan. Meanwhile, at the Peace Building Exchange programme which will be held from the 27th of this month until the 4th of December, Brunei Darussalam will be represented by 4 students from the Hassanal Bolkiah Boys Arabic Secondary School and the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Girls Secondary Arabic Religious School. During the programme, the students will visit cultural sites and institutions in Kyoto, Osaka and Nagasaki while gaining experience during home stay activities.
