OGDC Set April 8 as Registration Date for Science Show

 April 2nd, 2016  |  05:29 AM  |   1280 views

SERIA, KUALA BELAIT

The Oil and Gas Discovery Centre (OGDC) announced that the date of registration for its upcoming science show competition has been extended to April 8.

The aim of this event is to stimulate creativity and innovation.

Science shows, in order to be delivered successfully, needs to be interactive, making the audience part of the performance and bringing in volunteers onto the stage.

The performers themselves should try to be unique, with their own style and character, using humour and emotions to enable the audience to 'feel the science' and be entertained.

The competition's finalists will be required to compete live in front of invited judges, including Dr Graham Walker.

The first, second and third place winners will receive BND$600, BND$300 and BND$200 respectively, while an additional award of BND$100 awaits the best script and best performer.

The first round of the competition will begin on April 14, whereas the final will take place on April 17 at Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB).

Friends and family members of the participants are welcome to watch the live performances.

Additionally, to further actively promote STEM education, OGDC will have Dr Graham Walker, a science show expert from Australia, perform a best of show that combines all of his most exciting, fun and educational demonstrations, also at UTB on April 13 and 15.
