BACOLOD CITY

A 26-year-old man died after he was ran over by a wing van truck in Sitio Katiclan, Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, May 31.

Police identified the fatality as Jesse Auditor, 26, of Barangay Nataban.

Lt. Col. Jesus Mesahon Jr., San Carlos police chief, said that Auditor was riding a motorcycle driven by his younger brother identified as Alex, 23, on their way home.

As they negotiated a curve portion of the road, the brothers tried to overtake a truck loaded with frozen products.

However, the brothers saw a car while they were on the opposite lane. This prompted them to return to their original lane, but unfortunately, they hit the rear part of the truck, the police chief added.

Mesahon said that Auditor’s younger brother was unharmed.

The truck was on its way to Bacolod.

Mesahon said the truck driver was already released from police custody, following an initial settlement with the victim's family.
