The new third generation Proton Saga is expected to be a hot seller with the national automaker aiming to sell 5,000 units per month.

The price range is between RM37,000 and RM46,000.

The new entry-level four-door sedan will be launched officially next Wednesday at Setia City Convention Centre in Shah Alam.

An official said the new Saga was designed to be affordable, fuel economical, stylish, spacious and to provide practicality and convenience.

“We are targeting singles and young executives between 20 and 30 years old. This latest model is more fuel efficient by up to 11% and provides a much more refined drive,” he said.

It has a new 1.3-litre variable valve timing engine and continuously variable transmission.

A five-speed manual transmission variant is also available.

The car uses the same platform as the previous Saga Base Line Model but is slightly longer, wider and lower. It has a slightly larger 420-litre boot.

Like the new Persona, the new Saga will also have three variants namely Standard, Executive and Premium.

Anti-lock braking system and brake assist are only available in the Executive and Premium variants.

The Premium variant includes extra features such as electronic stability control, traction control, hill hold assist, reverse camera and a 2DIN audio head unit.

All Saga variants have a four-star safety rating (out of a maximum of five stars) from Asean New Car Assessment Programme for South-East Asian Countries.
