Touring Johor Baru During The Festive Season

 February 12th, 2024  |  08:47 AM  |   7841 views

JOHOR BARU

Colourful decorations adorned the streets here as people came to the city to enjoy the Chinese New Year holiday.

IT technician Mohd Sarail Talib, 42, said the holiday has been a busy week for him as he had many weddings to attend which were organised by his relatives.

“I came from Semporna last week to help with the wedding preparations for my family, and at the same time, there are also other weddings that I have been invited to.

“As of Sunday, I have attended four wedding receptions. I plan to tour the city before I continue my travels to Penang,” he said when met at Danga Bay here.

Mohd Sarail said there was less congestion on the road.

Civil servant Mohd Halim Ridhauddin, 44, asked the state government to improve Pantai Lido so that those living here will have the option to go to the beach other than visiting Desaru.

“Right now, the closest we have is Danga Bay, so it will be nice to have other options like Pantai Lido.

“I hope Tourism Johor can open the place for families to have a picnic or sightseeing. The authorities can open spaces for food trucks and other amenities.

“The younger people love places that they can go to ‘heal’, so Danga Bay is one of the budget-friendly places that they can go to in the city,” he said, adding that there were ample restaurants and good security provided at the place.

As for airport terminal executive Rozalia Ab Rashid, 33, she had been planning to come to Johor Baru for a while to visit her sister’s family in Pasir Gudang.

“I have been to Johor Baru before, but I have never had the time to visit Jalan Dhoby or other places like Dataran Bandaraya or Danga Bay.

“But this time I have managed to squeeze some time into these places, and I hope to return here,” she added.

Rozalia drove down from Selangor last Friday with her brother around midnight to escape the heavy traffic on Saturday.

“It was congested but still manageable,” she added.

Another civil servant, Azhar Zainal Abidin, 44, brought his wife and children to the Kidz Republic Indoor Theme Park here, as the place offers various activities for parents and children at an affordable price.

“Compared to other indoor theme parks, I believed that this is the best one in Johor Baru, as we could spend our time with our child in a fun and safe environment,” he said.
