​The first Meeting of the 20th Legislative Council Session began with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, in a titah emphasising on several matters to achieve the national development objectives. These include the need for efforts to be continued and enhanced towards diversifying the economy as well as focusing on strategic industries, the allocation provided to be used more prudently and National Development Plan, NDP projects to be expedited according to the set timelines.

In the titah in conjunction with the Official Opening Ceremony of the First Meeting of the 20th Legislative Council Session at the Dewan Majlis Building, 27th February morning, His Majesty characterises the Legislative Council as an arena for the members to bring forth constructive views and ideas.
