One woman couldn't hide her reaction when her pregnant friend told her the names she had chosen for her twin boys, inspired by Harry Potter - and people are in full agreement
A mum-to-be who decided to give her baby twin boys names from the world of Harry Potter has come under fire for her choice, with people labelling her 'ridiculous'.
Prior to the arrival of her newborn sons, the woman decided to share her boys' names with one of her closest friends - but she didn't get the reaction she was hoping for and went on to accuse her pal of "ruining" her special moment.
The woman's friend shared details of their awkward conversation, writing: "My friend (let's call her Nicola) wanted to keep the baby names a secret as everyone knows the sex of the babies and she's having a scheduled C-section so she wanted some element of surprise. She's also a massive Harry Potter fan and had hinted about there possibly being a link so I expected a Harry Potter name in there somewhere.
"Anyway, she decided she was too excited to keep it in any longer and rang to me to ask me if I wanted to know the names they had chosen. It went something like this ...
"Me: Ooh yes please, I would love to know!
"Nicola: Albus Tony and Severus Callum
"Me: (long pause) Wow!
"Nicola: (fuming) Thanks for that, I can tell you hate them. Thanks so much for ruining this moment for me! (Hangs up)."
Writing on Reddit, the woman admitted that she felt awful for upsetting her friend. She explained: "I have tried to message and call her to apologise and say I do like the names (I don't, Severus Callum has got to be the most random name I've ever heard of) but she keeps ignoring me. My other half says I'm not the a******* because they are stupid names."
The Reddit community were quick to comment - and they were firmly on her side. One person said: "Parents need to stop naming their kids with ridiculous names. These are not accessories, they are entire humans who have to exist with stupid names which is so much more important than her 'moment'. Albus Tony and Severus Callum are ridiculous names, it's almost like she wants them to get bullied."
Another asked: "And what if they don't end up even liking Harry Potter?" A third said: "You were way more polite than I would've been. You got shell-shocked and kept silent, I mean what did she expect?"
