The opportunity to further expand cooperation especially in the field of law, which was one of the important field of cooperation to be explored, was among the matters discussed when the Speaker of the Legislative Council received a courtesy call from the High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore. During the courtesy call, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, and His Excellency Laurence Bay Siow Hon also discussed the similarities of the two councils in terms of procedures and practices that are based on the previous government system that is unique and still being practised.

Several other matters were also highlighted, including the currency exchange between Brunei Darussalam and Singapore that is special between both nations. In the exchange of views on the legal system, the High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore congratulated the Speaker of the Legislative Council for the success of the First Meeting of the 20th Legislative Council that underlined many relevant issues and of interest of the people. Also present, Doctor Dayang Hajah Huraini binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah, Clerk to the Privy Council, Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers' Council and Clerk to the Legislative Council.
