Dybala Scores Twice in Juventus Win, Totti Saves Roma, Inter Milan Lose

Francesco Totti celebrates his late goals.

ITALY

Paulo Dybala scored twice as Juventus thrashed 10-man Lazio 3-0 to take what should prove to be a decisive nine-point lead into the Serie A run-in.

Only a serious collapse in the last four games will open the door for Napoli to snatch the title from the reigning champions, who opened the scoring in Turin through Mario Mandzukic just before half-time.

Dybala's double - from a penalty shortly after Lazio lost Patric to a red card, and then at the end of a fine solo run - put Juve in a position to claim the Italian championship with two more wins.

Francesco Totti emphatically staked his claim for a new contract with a brace from the bench that boosted Roma to a dramatic 3-2 victory over Torino.

The 39-year-old striker has struggled for game time at the Stadio Olimpico but a haul of three goals from two games could convince the Giallorossi to give him one more year.

Andrea Belotti's penalty and Josef Martinez's late goal gave Torino hope they could triumph in the Eternal City, yet Totti's double and Kostas Manolas' header earned Roma all three points.

Sebastian De Maio dealt a heavy blow to Inter Milan's hopes of reaching the Champions League places by firing Genoa to a 1-0 victory at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Roberto Mancini's men failed to make the most of a flurry of chances in the first half and were second-best after the break, with centre-back De Maio wounding them at the death.

Ten-man Hellas Verona are staring relegation in the face after going down 1-0 at Empoli.

The basement boys have only four games in which to save themselves and 17th-placed Carpi could seal their fate by opening a 12-point gap with victory at AC Milan on Thursday.

Aljaz Struna secured a crucial point for relegation-threatened Palermo by forcing a 2-2 draw with Atalanta at the Stadio Renzo Barbera.

Franco Vazquez's penalty boosted the Sicilians in the first minute but Atalanta were level when Marco Borriello converted a spot-kick 10 minutes later.

After the break Gabriel Paletta turned the game on its head with a headed goal, leaving Slovenian right-back Struna to salvage a share of the spoils with a scruffy finish in the 76th minute.

Udinese are practically assured of another season in the top flight following their 2-1 win over Fiorentina at the Stadio Friuli.

Colombia's Duvan Zapata set the agenda with a second-minute headed opener for Udinese but Mauro Zarate made it a contest by dragging Fiorentina level in the 23rd minute.

Udinese started the second half with intent and Cyril Thereau duly grabbed a winner in the 53rd minute, the French striker beating visiting goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu with a thunderous drive.

Nine-man Frosinone suffered a major setback in their battle to beat the rop when losing 5-1 at Chievo.

Daniel Ciofani's fifth-minute goal gave the promoted team hope but Arlind Ajeti's subsequent dismissal afforded Chievo extra space and they levelled through Antonio Floro Flores after 36 minutes.

Sergio Pellissier's penalty turned the game on its head just after the break and Raman Chibsah's red card in the 54th minute left Frosinone wide open.

Two goals in three minutes from Nicola Rigoni and Gennaro Sardo confirmed the outcome and Pellissier squeezed home a fifth Chievo goal 10 minutes from time.

Goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano almost single-handedly earned 10-man Sampdoria their point from a one-sided 0-0 draw at Sassuolo's Mapei Stadium.

Europa League-chasing Sassuolo dominated throughout, taking control of proceedings after Samp defender Andrea Ranocchia was dismissed for a second yellow card in the 27th minute. But neither Sime Vrsaljko nor Federico Peluso could get the ball over the line in the first half, and Sassuolo's frustration continued after the break.

Marcello Trotta, Luis Muriel and Nicola Sansone were all thwarted from close range by the perceptive Viviano and the former Arsenal loanee even saved a Domenico Berardi penalty at the death.
