Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) held a launching of its very first Under-the-Ground Arts Market yesterday, at the basement of the university's Chancellor Hall.

On hand to launch the three-day event was Chair Professor Dr. David Koh, the Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) of UBD.

Being the first of its kind in Brunei, the UBD Arts Market will be showcasing works of art by Bruneian youths as well those from the country's local arts scene.

In his opening remarks, Awang Muhammad Nazmi bin Mahan, the Production Director of Under-The-Ground Arts Market, said that the local art industry scene was progressing together with developments in communication technology and marketing innovation.

Partnered with the Office of Promotions and Events Management (OPEM), the UBD Arts Market is especially intended as a platform for local artists to showcase their work.

The arts fair is sponsored by the Office of Promotion and Events Management, Progresif, Deli, Bake Culture, Sunlit Advertising, Green City Concept, 88 Trading Company and HS Discovery Enterprise.
