BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Dr. Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar, the Acting Raes of the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB), has urged the university's Language Centre and Students Affairs Unit to focus more on language programmes in Arabic and English.

Speaking as the guest of honour yesterday, at the launching of an Arabic Language project for Southeast Asia, Dr. Haji Adanan said that KUPU SB has made a bold step in combining the Arabic Language together with Islamic education.

The KUPU SB Language Centre will regulate the linguistics project, which will utilise Arabic as the main language of communication among Muslims in Southeast Asia.

The programme is aimed at advancing KUPU SB as the main linguistics centre in the region, in addition to boosting language proficiency among the university's trainee teachers.

Since the project is planned in two phases, with seven years for each phase, the Language Centre is welcoming the participation of all interested parties, to make the programme a success.
