BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

The representative of the Attorney General's Chambers at the media conference explained that under the Medicines Order 2007, it is an offence to import, sell or market medical products without a license.  The AGC's representative said any person found to have published or produced false or misleading advertisement or representation on medical products is guilty of an offence under Section 52 of the Medicines Order 2007 and could be fined five thousand dollars or sentenced to two-year imprisonment or both.

The public is also reminded the Attorney General's Chambers and the Government of Brunei Darussalam in particular take a serious view of any person or persons who obstruct public officers from executing their duties as required under the Law.  Such an obstruction is an offence under Section 61 of the Medicines Order 2007 and is liable to a fine of two thousand dollars.  It is also an offence to provide false explanation or information under the said order.  The penalty would be a fine not exceeding five thousand dollars, imprisonment of not more than two years or both.
