Studies have been carried out on the number of students receiving aid at each school and the results of the school's overall assessment based on last year's Primary School Assessment, PSR achievement, which was also linked to several factors such as area and socio-economic background. Yang Berhormat Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman, Minister of Education shared the matter in response to the query voiced by Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Abdul Wahab bin Apong on the issue of surveys made on the academic achievement of children or students living in terrace houses whereby their study area is limited.
Yang Berhormat Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman, Minister of Education, the study covered 17 primary schools located in all national housing scheme areas in the country. For PSR 2017, 9 schools have shown excellent performance, while 5 schools showed average performance and 3 schools were at an unsatisfactory level. The findings showed there are a number of primary schools located at the housing areas which also has a large number of students receiving aid, showing less satisfactory PSR performance. However, there are also a large number of schools with low socio-economic backgrounds in the housing areas showing good PSR performance. These facts showed that a family's socio-economic background and the size of the familial house is not the only deciding factor of the student's academic performance.
