The Big Four Set for Fierce Showdown in Intercompany Netball Tournament

 May 14th, 2016  |  05:07 AM  |   1294 views

BERAKAS, BRUNEI-MUARA

Baiduri Bank will meet defending champions B.T Forwarding in the semifinal of the NBT Intercompany Netball Tournament while Standard Chartered Bank (SCB), who sealed top spot in Group 'B', have a date against DST in the other match which will be held at the Public Works Department Sports Complex.

Overnight leaders Standard Chartered Bank made sure that they would not be replaced in top spot and avoid the reigning holders after securing a 15-8 win over QAF and laboured to a 10-6 win over a resolute CIBFM/AMBD side.

Baiduri Bank did all they can to snatch top spot from under SCB's noses after doing their part in a 20-0 win over Kingston Beverage & Creamery Sdn Bhd and a 14-5 win over Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, but their narrow defeat against SCB meant they have to take second place.

Standard Chartered Bank team captain Noorlyn Afrina was delighted with her team progress to the last four and urged her team to keep their momentum.

"We will try our best and we will keep our strategy especially how we played against Baiduri and other teams. We will keep our momentum," said Noorlyn in an interview with the Weekend Bulletin.

At one point, SCB final opponents CIBFM showed signs of staging a comeback which may or may not have a bearing on the team's positioning and Noorlyn commended them for giving them a good fight.

Asked how she felt after completing their group top, Noorlyn said that their hard work have finally paid off since beginning their preparations in February.

The tournament also served as preparations for the bank's netball team for the upcoming Tri Nations which Malaysia will play host.
