More than One Thousand and 7 Hundred people are participating in the 72 times Khatam Al-Quran ceremony in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 72nd Birthday celebration which begins yesterday in the four districts. The launching ceremony of the 72 times Khatam Al-Quran for members of the Mukim and Kampung Consultative Councils as well as students throughout the country for the Brunei Muara District was held yesterday afternoon at the Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampung Kiarong.

 The ceremony began with a mass reading of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs as the Chairman of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's  72nd birthday celebration National Committee, Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minsiter of Religious Affairs and Yang Berhormat Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman, the Minister of Education.

 This year, 702 people participate in Brunei Muara District. Among them were His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's grandson and grand-daughter, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak 'Abdul Hafeez bin Pengiran Anak Khairul Khalil and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Raihaanah Hanaa-ul Bolqiah binti Pengiran Anak Khairul Khalil. Brunei Muara district participants comprise of 35 men, 35 women, 70 youths, 86 boys, 86 girls, 195 male students and 195 female students of the Ministry of Education.

 Also present were Members of the Legislative Council, Acting Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Education; Deputy Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ministry of Education.

 The 72 times Khatam Al-Quran ceremony is a doa or supplication to Allah the Almighty.  May Allah the Creator strengthen His Majesty's reign, in ruling and leading the country towards greater success with the guidance from Allah the Almighty.
