BERAKAS

Over 1,900 children aged 5 to 11 have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine since it was opened last Saturday. According to the Ministry of Health, to date, there is no adverse side effects among children who have been vaccinated. Meanwhile, the period between the first dose and the second dose for children is 3 weeks, and currently, booster shots have yet to be administered.

COVID-19 vaccine for children is given a priority following the latest wave driven by the Omicron variant, which saw the increase in COVID-19 patients among children in the country and overseas. Former COVID-19 patients among children are also advised to get the COVID-19 vaccine to receive for an extensive immunisation and protection in terms of infection control or prevention.

Parents highly welcomed the Vaccination Programme for Children and described it as an attempt to ensure that children are safe from the effects of COVID-19.
