To express the spirit of love and loyalty through patriotic and culturally rich musical compositions, Radio Television Brunei, RTB organised the "GEMILANG KEPUTERAAN 80," a song-writing competition held in conjunction with His Majesty's 80th Birthday celebration. The competition took place on 5th July night at the Prime Minister's Office.
Present was Awang Ajman bin Haji Meludin, Permanent Secretary for Civil Service Governance at the Prime Minister's Office. Also present were Pengiran Haji Raffizanna bin Pengiran Haji Razali, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Civil Service Governance at the Prime Minister's Office and Awang Cheong Chee Keong, Acting Director of RTB. 9 songs made it to the competition's final round. The song 'Daulat Sepanjang Zaman', composed and written by Awang Norhidayat bin Haji Ahim, with music arrangement by Awang Muhd Hazwan bin Anuar, emerged champion. Meanwhile, the song 'Puja Usia Raja Mahkota Negara', composed and written by Pengiran Abdul Farid bin Pengiran Idrus, with music arrangement by Awang Muhd Hazwan bin Anuar, came in second place. Third place went to the song 'Jiwa Seri Baginda', composed and arranged by Awang Muhd Abdul Basit bin Raduan, with lyrics by Awang Faiz bin Nawi. The song 'Puja Usia Raja Mahkota Negara' won the Best Performance award, while 'Daulat Sepanjang Zaman' was named the winner for Best Lyrics.
