The Speaker of the Legislative Council received separate Courtesy Calls from the High Commissioner of India to Brunei Darussalam; the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Brunei Darussalam; and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Brunei Darussalam. It was held at the Dewan Majlis Building, 10th June morning.
The courtesy call made by His Excellency Ramu Abbagani, High Commissioner of India to Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, among others, focused on efforts to enhance cooperative relations to support the achievement of Wawasan Brunei 2035 through increased business activities, investments and technology integration, particularly in the oil and gas sector. Both parties also touched on strengthening relations between the legislative bodies and emphasised the importance of a close and long-standing relationship between the two countries.
Meanwhile, His Excellency Weert Borner, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany during the courtesy call discussed on strengthening bilateral cooperation in various strategic sectors, including technology and education. Both parties also exchanged views on matters of regional and global interest, in addition to expressing their commitment to continue strengthening the cooperative relationship between the Legislative Council and German Bundestag.
In a courtesy call made by His Excellency Tran Anh Vu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, both parties expressed appreciation for the achievements made since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992. The discussion focused on the close cooperation between the Legislative Council and National Assembly of Viet Nam, including recalling the official visit made by the Vice Chairman of National Assembly of Viet nam in 2024. Also present was Datin Paduka Doctor Dayang Hajah Huraini binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah, Clerk to the Privy Council, Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers' Council & Clerk to the Legislative Council.
