10th AMCC and 10th SICW

The Association of South East Asian Nations, ASEAN, including Brunei Darussalam, has not been immune to the threats of cyber-criminals that take advantage of system vulnerabilities and the increasing activities of advanced persistent threat actors regionally. Recognising the transboundary threats, the Minister of Transport and Infocommunications stressed the importance of strengthening existing regional cybersecurity cooperation, coordination, Computer Emergency Response Team collaboration and capacity building initiatives.

 

Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, as Minister-in-Charge of Cybersecurity stated this while attending the 10th ASEAN Ministerial Conference on Cybersecurity, AMCC and the 10th Singapore International Cyber Week, SICW which was held in the Republic of Singapore.

 

During the conference, the ASEAN Ministers collectively emphasized the importance of continued regional partnerships to address evolving cybersecurity challenges which is growing in sophistication. These include AI-driven attacks and the threat of quantum-powered cyberattacks. The AMCC was chaired by Her Excellency Josephine Teo, Minister for Digital Development and Information and Minister-in-charge of Cyber Security of the Republic of Singapore.

 

 Also held was the 10th Singapore International Cyber Week panel session themed 'Shaping the Next Era of Global Cybersecurity". The Minister of Transport and Infocommunications participated as a panellist in a High-Level Panel that discussed the need to foster structured collaboration, principles and value-based partnerships that serves national development goals.

 

Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary also held a bilateral meeting with Her Excellency Josephine Teo. Both parties discussed strengthening cooperation in the areas of cybersecurity policy development, digital infrastructure and emerging technologies, especially in support of ASEAN's collective digital economy agenda.
