16th BIMP-EAGA Heads of Customs Meeting

The Royal Customs and Excise Department, Ministry of Finance and Economy remains committed in supporting the Brunei Darussalam–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area, BIMP-EAGA, agenda to strengthen regional economic integration, facilitate trade, and enhance cooperation among member countries. The 16th BIMP-EAGA Heads of Customs Meeting was held in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.

 

The country's delegation to the meeting was led by Awang Muhammad Azizil Hakim bin Brahim, Acting Controller, Royal Customs and Excise. The main agenda discussed included projects update under the BIMP-EAGA Trade Facilitation Cluster, Customs Working Group; consultations with the private sector through BIMP-EAGA Business Council on potential convergence projects; and technical assistance provided by Asian Development Bank. One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the endorsement of the Royal Malaysian Customs Academy in Kuching, Sarawak, as the BIMP-EAGA Training Centre, which will serve as the main training hub for the Customs Administrations.
