A total of 18 foreign nationals were detained for further investigation during a series of immigration enforcement operations conducted in several areas across the country.
The Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD), through its Law Enforcement Division in Bandar Seri Begawan and Kuala Belait branch, carried out four enforcement operations under Operasi Kakas 2026 as part of ongoing efforts to curb immigration offences in Brunei Darussalam.
During Operasi Kakas 90/2026 in Mukim Belait, one foreign national was detained for allegedly committing two offences under the Immigration Regulations, Chapter 17.
The individual was believed to have worked for an employer other than the one registered and carried out work that did not correspond with the occupation stated in the passport.
Meanwhile, Operasi Kakas 91/2026 targeted a rented house in Mukim Keriam, where two foreign nationals were detained for further investigation.
One was suspected of overstaying in the country after the expiry of an immigration pass and working for an employer other than the one registered. The other was suspected of harbouring an immigration offender, an offence under Section 55(1)(d) of the Immigration Act, Chapter 17.
The largest number of detentions came during Operasi Kakas 92/2026 at a rented house in Mukim Berakas ‘A’.
Fifteen foreign nationals were inspected and subsequently detained for further investigation. All were suspected of overstaying after their immigration passes had expired and of working for employers other than those registered.
In a separate operation in Mukim Belait, immigration officers inspected 18 foreign nationals under Operasi Kakas 93/2026. All were found to have valid travel documents and immigration passes.
The INRD urged members of the public with information on immigration offences to contact the Law Enforcement Division hotlines at 8734888 or 8753888 in Bandar Seri Begawan, or 8984111 in Kuala Belait.
The operations form part of the department’s continuing enforcement efforts against immigration violations in the Sultanate.
