The Department of Immigration and National Registration, JIPK, through the Law Enforcement Division, Bandar Seri Begawan carried out a law enforcement operation under Operation Kakas JIPK 2026 targeting houses and rental rooms in Mukim Pengkalan Batu.
As a result of the operation, four foreigners were arrested and brought for further investigation. They are believed to be overstaying in the country after their immigration passes had expired. Three of the foreigners were also believed to have committed the offence of working using a Visit Pass. While another was believed to be working for a different employer.
Meanwhile, Jamaludin, a 46-year-old Indonesian man, was sentenced to 4 months imprisonment and 3 strokes of whipping after pleading guilty to overstaying in the country after his immigration pass had expired. The sentence took effect on 13th January 2026.
