42 resolutions across 6 Standing Committees namely Politics, Economy, Social, Women Parliamentarians of AIPA, WAIPA; Young Parliamentarians of AIPA, YPA and Organisation, were adopted during the 46th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, AIPA, held at the World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Brunei Darussalam delegation was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, Speaker of the Legislative Council and was joined by twelve Members of the Legislative Council. The adopted resolutions reflect AIPA's shared commitment to addressing regional challenges, strengthening resilience and promoting connectivity for the benefit of the people of ASEAN. The outcome marked a new milestone for the General Assembly with the highest number of resolutions adopted for this year. This year's general assembly carries the theme “Parliament at the Forefront for Inclusive Growth and Sustainable ASEAN".
The Political Committee among others discussed peace initiatives, cooperation against cybercrime, the role of Parliament in defending human rights, monitoring the effects of climate change and the humanitarian situation. The Legislative Council was represented by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman and Yang Berhormat Dayang Hajah Rosmawatty binti Haji Abdul Mumin. Meanwhile, the Economic Committee focused on the implementation of the AEC Blueprint 2025, green and blue economic development, carbon trade, the impact of global tariffs, intra-ASEAN trade, energy security and digital economic transformation. The Legislative Council was represented by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abd. Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, Yang Berhormat Awang Lau How Teck and Yang Berhormat Awang Zainol bin Mohamed.
The Social Committee discussed social protection in tackling the climate crisis, alcohol control, TVET education standards, quality healthcare and joint action to address drug issues. The Legislative Council was represented by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Haji Md. Yusof, Yang Berhormat Dayang Hajah Safiah binti Sheikh Haji Abdul Salam and Yang Berhormat Haji Awang Sulaiman bin Haji Nasir. Meanwhile, the Women Parliamentarians of AIPA, WAIPA endorsed resolutions relating to women's political participation, the development of the care economy and efforts to strengthen women's digital skills to bridge the digital gender gap. The Legislative Council was represented by Yang Berhormat Dayang Hajah Safiah binti Sheikh Haji Abdul Salam and Yang Berhormat Dayang Chong Chin Yee.
Young Parliamentarians of AIPA, YPA, emphasised the role of youth in politics and leadership, involvement in the digital transition, and contributions to inclusive economic development. The meeting also highlighted the first YPA-AIPA working visit and the Roundtable Discussion: Youth in Action. The Legislative Council was represented by Yang Berhormat Dayang Chong Chin Yee and Yang Berhormat Awang Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan. Meanwhile, the Organisation Committee approved resolutions related to AIPA administration including financial reports, annual budgets, and AIPA annual initiatives. The meeting also discussed amendments to the statute, the conferment of AIPA distinguished award and the appointment of a new AIPA Secretary General. The Legislative Council was represented by Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Isa bin Pengiran Haji Aliuddin; Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Salleh Bostaman bin Haji Zainal Abidin and Datin Paduka Dr. Dayang Hajah Huraini binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah, Clerk to the Privy Council, Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers' Council and Clerk to the Legislative Council
The 46th AIPA General Assembly also held a dialogue session with 14 AIPA Observer Parliaments under the theme 'ASEAN Centrality: Catalysing an Inclusive Regional Architecture for a Sustainable Future'. The dialogue provided a substantive exchange of views on economic cooperation, renewable energy, digital transformation, green technology and sustainable trade.
Meanwhile, the Second Plenary Session was held on the 20th of September 2025 with the presentation of the report on the achievements of the Standing Committee Meetings and concluded with an agreement through the signing of a Joint Statement. The Closing Ceremony of the 46th AIPA General Assembly this year witnessed the handover of the AIPA Chairman from Malaysia to the Philippines as the host of the 47th General Assembly next year. At the Closing Ceremony, the handover of the duties of the AIPA Secretary General was also held. The participation of the Legislative Council in the 46th AIPA General Assembly reflects the support and continuous efforts of Brunei Darussalam in strengthening relations between regional parliaments, in line with ASEAN's efforts to build a more inclusive, resilient and sustainable community. Also present was Datin Paduka Dr. Dayang Hajah Huraini binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah.
